Laura Linney's performance of weak, yet strong characters has earned her the title of one of the top American actors. Linney was born to an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Her interest in theatre during the time spent in the summer with her father, who was famous. She studied acting at Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree in the year 2000, before making her TV debut in the next year. She has been featured on a number of shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. She has won many awards in her long career. This includes the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Yet, despite numerous awards the theatre is still her passion first and foremost. She has continued to appear both in stage and screen.
