Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young time. When he was a student of Emory University, he performed on stage in a number of shows in Atlanta. In 1953, he joined the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a show that he performed in with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in the year 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. In 1957 the couple left the military and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio after they moved their family from Atlanta to Decatur in Georgia in the year 1960. The year 1964 was when Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's TV show called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded on their own. The Actors and Writers Workshop was founded in 1964 and ran for six years. In the meantime, they also had two youngsters Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in the year 1965, in 1965 and Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
