Richard B. Cheney has been a public servant for a long time and also is an entrepreneur who has made a name for himself. He currently serves as the Vice President of the United States. Cheney, a well-known face within Washington politics, has served under four presidents from the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush chose Cheney on July 20, 2000 as his vice-presidential running partner, being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney is a former Chief of Staff of the President. He also was a member of Congress, and he was Secretary of Defense. Republicans and Democrats both respect his integrity. Cheney stated that his role in the Bush administration is that of a transparent but disinterested advisor. Cheney stated that, when he accepted the Republican nomination for vice president, he looked forward to working with a president who would work across political lines to achieve goals and will cooperate with opposition members in good faith. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on January 30, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. In the age of thirteen, Richard moved his family across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper where his dad was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservation district.
